Highlights of Piazza Navona, Rome

In a recent Travel Blog of mine on this site, I mentioned that I don’t often get opportunities to travel overseas, but after receiving an invitation to the Trierenberg Super Circuit Gala Awards night to pick up a Canon Gold Medal Award, the family and I decided to pack our bags and do a trip to Europe…   The first leg of our trip to Europe was to Rome, Italy.  After some suggestions from family we decided to base ourselves in the Piazza Navona area in Rome.  This in hindsight, was one of the best decisions we made from a location point of view.  We were able to access all of the major attractions by walking and exploring this intriguing part of the...

Being Creative in the field

Sometimes when we are out photographing we can be extremely lucky and find great scenes to photograph.  Other times we need to be more creative in our composition and thinking. This image is one of those great scenes, I captured this in New Zealand.  It was most definitely a scene that required little more then finding the right angle to shoot from to only include those parts that I desired.  If I had pointed my camera down any lower I would have gotten the railing and the overflow hole.  So for this image I have been creative in my positioning to ensure I did not capture anything that would detract from the final image.  Naturally I have also cropped this after the...

Travel photography with a family

I have travelled both nationally and internationally on dedicated photography tours with the chance to live, breathe and sleep photography which can be immense fun and rewarding. Like a majority of people though, these chances are somewhat limited and most of my travel is done with family and/or friends. When travelling in these circumstances, photography is certainly not high on everyone else’s to do list.
